Malabar spinach (Basella alba), also called vine, red vine, climbing, Buffalo or Ceylon spinach is a thermophilic vine native to Asia and valued for great, distinct taste and beneficial effects. This plant also offers great ornamental value, since its sprawling stems take on deep red colour that forms great contrast with juicy green leaves. Edible foliage contain a number of vitamins and minerals. They particularly rich in provitamin A, vitamin C and vitamin B9, the folic acid.

Before the sow seeds of the Malabar spinach should be scarified - there shells should be broken, e.g. cut with a knife. Then the seeds are placed in the ground, possibly in rows along the supports, upon which the plants will climb. Cultivation should start at the end of spring, when the last frosts are gone. This presented variety grows best in fertile, warm, moist and permeable soil on a sunny or partially shady site.

Its leaves can be harvested in the middle of Summer and cooked like common spinach leaves, or eaten raw in salads. Each package contains 3 g of salad spinach seeds. A growing guide and the sow-by date are included in the product information.
