The Ornak winter garlic guarantees high yield of exceptionally large, nicely shaped bulbs that are harvested medium late. The cloves they consist of provide excellent material for preserves or can be used for cooking and preparing dishes. Their distinct taste and aroma make it a healthy spice with antibiotic properties.

Vegetation form: annual plant

Bulb: The variety offered here in our garden market develops extremely large, shapely bulbs that weigh up to 100 g. They are tightly covered with strong white skin. It shelters 4 to 8 large white cloves that are additionally covered with thin, veined scales that are easy to peel.

Leaves: The Ornak garlic develops dense, long, bright green foliage. The erect leaves may bend with time, but remain aromatic and rich in vitamins.

Harvest time: As a medium late variety, the Ornak garlic can be harvested at the end of July or in the first decade of August.

Planting time: Winter garlic bulbs should be planted in autumn.

Site: The variety presented here prefers humus-rich, moist, yet not too heavy and sufficiently permeable soil. It reacts very well to the organic fertilization.

Planting distance: Allow 20 to 30 cm between rows and 7 to 10 cm between individual cloves. Plant them so the tips are 5 to 6 cm below surface.

Use: The Ornak garlic cloves can be used in the kitchen in a variety of ways. You may add it to cured meat, roasts, soups, spreads, sauces and sandwiches. The cloves of the presented variety can also be dried, frozen and added to preserves, e.g. for seasoning pickles. Fresh garlic is a natural antibiotic that kills bacteria, fungi and parasites. It beneficially affects the respiratory tract and the digestive system, helps lower the blood pressure, increases the resistance and is considered an anti-cancer agent. The bulbs planted on a garden beds effectively repel vegetable and ornamental plants' pests.
